The Tairawhiti Seawalls are a collection of murals peppered all throughout the Gisborne District, mainly around the beaches to remind people of who important it is to protect our oceans
This art was done by Sonny and it is the most breath-taking thing that I have ever seen. The use of black and white colours adds this surreal, almost paranormal vibe of this beautiful creature that seems too majestic to be real. The use of no colour also adds this sense of melancholy, a beautiful deep despair, and tragedy that couldn't be more stunning if it tried. It dawns a reality onto its onlooker; This beautiful, almost seemingly impossible gorgeous beast inhabits our very own ocean and in due time the way I interpret this painting could become a reality. Nothing but a far off, a myth of a beast never again to be seen by the human eye.
