The Tairawhiti Seawalls Project

The Tairawhiti Seawalls are a collection of murals peppered all throughout the Gisborne District, mainly around the beaches to remind people of who important it is to protect our oceans

Art was done by Sonny
This art was done by Sonny and it is the most breath-taking thing that I have ever seen. The use of black and white colours adds this surreal, almost paranormal vibe of this beautiful creature that seems too majestic to be real. The use of no colour also adds this sense of melancholy, a beautiful deep despair, and tragedy that couldn't be more stunning if it tried. It dawns a reality onto its onlooker; This beautiful, almost seemingly impossible gorgeous beast inhabits our very own ocean and in due time the way I interpret this painting could become a reality. Nothing but a far off, a myth of a beast never again to be seen by the human eye.

Shop Day Poster

This is the poster Theo and I created to help advertise our shop day stall. Shop day is a day where every base group in the school sells things to earn money for future excursions outside of class. It was really fun to make considering Theo and I are pretty good friends.

Netiquette Essentials

We were learning about Netiquette and how to conduct yourself in an orderly fashion online
I found it easy to do everything because it was mostly just copied and pasted.
I found nothing that hard, except the fact the first time I exited my google drawing it just kind of disappeared.
I really didn't enjoy having to make my drawing again. That was a bit of a pain.
Next time I need to make sure I saved before I exited.

ICAS Writing Exam

A couple weeks ago I got my results back for the ICAS Writing Exam for 2018. I ended up scoring distinction, one of the highest scores you can achieve. Apparently, I'm in the top 3% percent of writers in Australasia.

How To Combat Cyberbullying

The learning around this project is the fact that we need to keep ourselves safe and happy online.

Science Project

The GisInt science fair happened in Week 3 of this term and you had to choose to do a project on something in the Material World, Living World etc. and come up with a hypothesis to conduct an experiment on. I did it with Chenoa, and we did it on the theory of sight affecting taste. We ended up going through to the regional science fair where we won a bronze metal.

Term 3 Report

This term's writing assessment was a report that was supposed to be self-assessed. We spent the few weeks leading up to the assessment learning how to correctly format it and researching it. We wrote a piece with the teacher we were with for writing and then did the assessment. After the writing was all done the students had to self-assess their piece, using the Student Writing Rubric. This was a 6B piece of writing by me.

Drama Club Evening

Yesterday it was the drama club evening, which has been about a year in development.

Last year the other drama club leaders and I wrote one script but we didn't have enough time to use it for that year, so we used this one that year as well as writing three more. Last term we did the audition calls for dancers and actors, and ever since we've been doing rehearsal after rehearsal. Since I wrote two of the four scripts I haven't been in class a lot as of late.

Yet finally, last night, the fruits of our labors were recognized at the drama club evening. Costumes were stunning, acting was amazing. Here was my favorite photo from last night

My Profile!

Hello I am Christina Janelle, but most know me as CJ or CeeJaye.  I go to Gisborne Intermediate & I am a Year 8 student. I live with my mum, my dad, my older sister Danielle and my dog Zeus.

As a learner I feel like I am good at both reading and writing; but I feel like I need to work on things in the math section of my learning. My goals for this year are to improve in every area that I can. I thrive on public speaking and performances in front of my class.

Some things that I'm looking forward to this year are probably the Variety Show, putting on the drama play that my peers and I have created for drama club, the stage arts performance and just anything cultural or anything where I get to stand in front of people and perform to entertain them. I admire performers; Broadway stars especially, so much and they are my inspiration to perform and all of my dreams kind of center around entertaining people and acting in front of them. It’s my passion.

I have to go now, but I hope you've enjoyed learning about me!
